Frequently asked questions
How do I sign in?
LOKA signs you in with your phone number. Enter your number and we'll send a one-time SMS verification code — enter that code to access your account. There's no separate password to remember.
Why does LOKA ask for location and camera access?
LOKA only requests the permissions it needs to work:
- Location — to show you the knowledge tags and places around you, and to accurately geo-tag the places you add.
- Camera — to attach photos to the places you tag and to power the augmented reality (AR) view of nearby tags.
You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.
How do I add a place?
Tap the green + button to add a tag. You'll add a photo, confirm the location, and write a short description. Once you submit, your tag becomes part of the living map for others to discover.
Report content or abuse
LOKA is a community-sourced map, and we take harmful or inappropriate content seriously. If you come across a tag, comment, or user that is offensive, abusive, or otherwise objectionable, email mithun@loka.place with a link to or description of the content (and the user, if relevant). We review every report and act on it within 3 business days, removing content and restricting accounts where appropriate.
This email-based process is our interim reporting mechanism while in-app reporting and blocking are in development.
Delete your account & data
You can delete your LOKA account and the personal data associated with it at any time. To request deletion, email mithun@loka.place from, or including, the phone number registered to your account so we can verify the request. We will delete your account and associated personal data within 7 business days and confirm once it's done.
In-app account deletion is a planned addition. Note that publicly contributed content may have been copied or archived by others; see our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for details.
